Book Orders
We encourage students and faculty to request publications and media items
for purchase by Miller Library. Just follow these steps:
- Pick up blank order cards at Miller Library or print the online form.
- Fill out the order card or printed form with as much information as
possible. (You can research titles in the Books in Print database through
the First Search service.)
- Write your name in the "Requested by" blank.
- For faculty requests, obtain the signature of your department chair.
(No orders can be processed without proper authorization.) He
or she must sign the "Approved by" blank.
- Give the request to any library staff person, or bring it directly
to the Acquisitions Monographs unit in Technical Services. You may also
send it via campus mail, ATTN: Miller Library, Acquisitions Monographs.
- If your request is urgent, please write RUSH at the top of the card.
Orders for foreign titles usually take longer to receive and process.
Once your request has been received it will be checked for duplication in
our collection. If no duplication is found and if budget is available, your
requested item will be purchased and added to the Miller Library collection.
The Acquisitions Technician will notify you of the status of your order within
a few days of placing your request.
